Philodendron 'Prince of Orange'

philodendron prince of orange

Also known as: Orange Prince Philodendron, Prince of Orange

Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, Philodendron Prince of Orange is one of the most colorful and exciting members of the philodendron family. Each new leaf emerges in a vivid, bright orange before slowly shifting through copper and bronze, finally settling into a deep, glossy green — meaning every leaf on the plant is a different color at the same time, creating a constantly changing, multi-toned display that never looks the same twice. Compact, upright, and surprisingly easy to care for.

plant tips

  • water

Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly and let excess drain completely — never let it sit in standing water.

  • light

Thrives in bright to medium indirect light. More light brings out the most vivid orange tones — but always avoid direct sun which can scorch the leaves.

  • zone

    Houseplant.

  • size

Grows 2–3 ft. tall and wide indoors — compact, upright, and perfectly sized for any tabletop or floor space.

care

Place in a warm, humid spot with bright indirect light and keep away from cold drafts and air conditioning vents. Water when the top inch or two of soil feels dry and mist leaves occasionally to boost humidity. Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during spring and summer and skip in winter when growth naturally slows. Remove any yellowing leaves at the base to keep the plant looking full and vibrant year-round.
