Farfugium japonicum 'Giganteum'
tractor seat plant
Also known as: Giant Leopard Plant, Farfugium Gigantea
Native to the shaded stream banks and coastlines of Japan, the Tractor Seat Plant gets its fun name from its massive, round, glossy leaves that look just like the seat of an old tractor. It's one of the boldest and most dramatic shade plants you can grow — its enormous deep green leaves can reach up to 18 inches across, creating a lush, tropical presence in any shaded space. In late summer and fall it surprises with tall stalks of bright yellow daisy-like flowers that rise well above the foliage for a cheerful seasonal bonus.
